Summer 2025

Phew an incredibly busy first week back! We have begun looking at narrative poetry and analysing it's features - a challenging task that we rose to. Measuring in maths was tricky but we have shown great progress at the end of this unit. Rugby was amazing  and we have enjoyed practising our skills in the sun during break and lunch. We have also enjoyed quiet time in the gazebo with our new cushions and books to read during break and lunch giving welcome shade from the sun.
Cooking this week was amazing we excelled at cutting, rolling and frying!
Well done to everyone - enjoy the bank holiday weekend.

Excellent teamwork in year 3-4 this week. We shared rhyming words to complete our poems about rugby on Mars, we worked together to complete circuits plus identifying insulators and conductors then we supported our partners to ensure that we completed a repeating loop in computing to draw a shape - fantastic work by all!

We enjoyed our biscuits and learning more about the celebrations that happened 80 years ago, practising our conga around the school field, just as everyone across the country did as they celebrated Victory in Europe Day!
Lots of challenges this week with rhyming words as we plan our poems plus writing, interpreting and analysing data in lots of different ways.
CHEFF was enjoyed by all, everyone is making fantastic process with cutting, frying and assembling food - staff members passing through the hall were amazed at the wonderous smells and the gorgeous food being cooked - well done to all!
It has been great fun to be outside and enjoy the sunshine! Progress in rugby with our passing and teamwork continues to impress.
Congratulations to year 3-4 for filling their cube jar, they were rewarded with an afternoon outside enjoying games, colouring and playtime in the glorious weather.
A busy end to the half term - rhyming and beats were a particular challenge as we finished our poetry. Continuous data in maths was tricky but everyone worked hard to complete their tasks.
We have enjoyed time in the library this week, sharing our books and favourite stories. Singing this half term has been good fun, making good progress  - Miss Summerbell has been very impressed!
Electrical safety around our homes was our focus this week, and we have all enjoyed using and writing algorithms in computing to make our sprites run, turn, dance and change colour.
Well done to everyone in year 3-4 for you hard work this week, have a fun and restful half term.
A busy first week back! Discussion topics in English have resulted in some lively debates - considering a balanced argument is a bit more challenging as we investigated the effect of adding information to our text. Stars all round this week as we have been problem solving in maths using data presented in different formats.
Sculpture is our new art topic this half term and we began by collecting leaves, rubbing them with crayons and understanding more about texture.
Computing this half term is looking at images and how they can be manipulated. We were astounded at how an old camera used to look and work, then took photos outside which we then began to change and manipulate - great work all round!
A great start to a busy week. We have begun to collect information for our discussion report and looked at the importance of evidence in our writing. Maths has been lots of problem solving - but we also excelled ourselves with mental maths practice!
Orienteering is a new skill for us and we have started by drawing a map of our school grounds considering what information we need to include and how best to do this. Gymnastics was amazing with great teamwork and support as we all worked hard to develop our skills.
An interesting week for all as we have used time lines and reports to investigate what climate change means and what renewable energy is - questioning can it save our planet?
Our local history topic of Lemington Gut is fascinating us all. We have used local maps from different time periods to study the changes, both physical and social, that industrialisation brought to the area,  We are further investigating the impact that this industrialisation has to climate change through our English writing Some fantastic. discussions and information sharing by all. Well done!

We have continued to develop our skills in gymnastics showing great team work and supporting each other to try new moves.
What an extraordinary week! In addition to writing our reports on renewable energy we have designed and built bridges with Zoe, a local artist, we have made clay tiles using our leave patterns, listened to the history of Lemington Gut with John from our local history society and still managed to rehearse and perform an amazing assembly looking back over the past year.
Thank you to everyone who came in to share their information about their jobs - we've certainly got some interesting ideas to think about!
Well done to all!
